The science behind the experience

Dr. Morten Friis-Olivarius

PhD · Neuroscientist · Entrepreneur

Known as Dr. Freeze, Morten is a neuroscientist, entrepreneur and founder of the Copenhagen Institute of NeuroCreativity and Nordic Breath. For nearly two decades, he has explored how the brain creates, adapts, makes decisions and performs in complex environments.

At Wild Winter, Morten brings science out of the classroom and into direct experience, connecting neuroscience with breath, cold exposure, attention and human performance. His ability to make complex science practical, relevant and understandable is central to the expedition.

Michał Wawrzonek, mountain guide
Our mountain guide

Michał Wawrzonek

Mountain guide · Photographer · Filmmaker

Michał is with us when we head into the mountains. He has spent much of his life in the Karkonosze, developing an instinctive understanding of the landscape, the conditions, and the people moving through them.

Known as Dobrze Robi, Michał brings a rare combination of calm mountain judgement, curiosity and creativity. For Michał, guiding is not about collecting summits or proving something. It is about knowing the mountains well, reading the conditions, and creating the space for people to experience them for themselves.

"The mountains have their own plans. We read them, and move with them."
